Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is defined as lingering pain which can be either severe or mild, sporadic or continuous, and incapacitating or uncomfortable. It is typically a recurring pain for three months or longer and originates from backaches, joint pains, headaches, or some painful injury. It is also not uncommon for one to experience sinus pain, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy, and fibromyalgia as chronic pain either. In some cases, it can occur without one having previously injured themselves as well.

Known Symptoms of Chronic Pain

The symptoms of chronic pain cover a broad spectrum as its defined by the length of the affliction as opposed to specific traits. As such, the symptoms one can experience from it vary from person to person with some experiencing the sensation of burning while others might feel jolts of stabbing pain shooting through their body. Symptoms can even include something as simple as stiffness or soreness in a patient as well based on the definition. If one is prolongedly exposed to these symptoms, it’s not uncommon for them to develop other symptoms as well such as a weakened immune system, sleeplessness, mood changes, fatigue, depression, irritability, and more. This is what makes chronic pain a serious matter as it can be a heavy emotional burden for many and reduce the body’s production of natural painkillers, creating a cycle in which the ailment becomes more difficult to deal with.
